Four new Galaxy models from Samsung

The Korean group will present four new Android models from the Galaxy product family at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The declared aim is to address a broader mass market with the devices. The top model among the innovations is the "Ace" with a 3,5-inch touchscreen, while the "Galaxy mini" is aimed more at smartphone beginners.

Addition to the family
According to Samsung, over ten million units of the original Galaxy S were sold in just seven months. That is why the group is following an entire product family with which it wants to reach an even wider audience. To do this, he relies on more compact models, which will probably be cheaper due to the somewhat weaker hardware. The Ace, for example, looks like a slightly smaller Galaxy S and also makes slight compromises in terms of performance with an 800 megahertz processor. With features like a five megapixel camera

LED flash, the Ace is clearly the top model among the innovations.
The "Gio", which appropriately derives its name from the Italian term for "jewel", should score particularly with its trendy design. It offers the same processing power as the Ace, but only a three-megapixel camera and a 3,2-inch display. The "Fit" is a bit larger at 3,31 inches, although its CPU is only clocked at 600 MHz. This corresponds to the Galaxy mini, which despite its name still offers 3,14 screen diagonal. The smallest family member should make the jump into the smartphone segment easier, especially for young users.

Start soon
It remains to be seen whether the devices will actually score with a low price. Because Samsung has not yet revealed any details. However, according to Korea IT Times, Ace and mini are already on the market in Russia. The rest of Europe should follow quickly. At least for Great Britain, three models are expected in March and the Gio as a latecomer in April.
The entire product family will be presented in more detail at the MWC in mid-February. It remains to be seen whether Samsung has already used up its entire trade fair powder in the battle of the smartphone manufacturers with the advance notice. After all, the group had used the mobile communications fair in the previous year to present the Wave - the first smartphone with the in-house operating system bada.
