iPhone OS 4.0 with multitasking, folders, iBooks and much more

The firmware iPhone OS 4.0 is coming summer 2010. Probably the most criticized thing about the iPhone OS is multitasking and that is precisely what should be a thing of the past with the new version.

The head of Apple Steve Jobs will of course present the new version iPhone OS. This includes new functions for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. 1500 new APIs for developers. A new framework Accelerate.

What is possible with multitasking that wasn't the case before?

  1. A double click on the home button opens the overview of all running programs
  2. Switching between applications
  3. Skype calls received would be another app running and you remain logged in to the app.
  4. Location in the background, but no activated GPS so that the battery is not heavily loaded
  5. Task Completion to end apps in the background

Another new feature is that programs can be stored in folders and that the e-mail client has a uniform inbox. (ck)
