Strato HiDrive Media 100 online storage

Everyone is talking about cloud systems, and the advantages are undisputed. Available everywhere, whether on tablets, smartphones or other mobile devices, securely through backups and redundant systems. Plus apps for IOs, Android and other systems.
As a German provider, Strato Hidrive also offers storage space on German servers and thus applicable German law, a very decisive argument for many. Foreign providers can often not keep up with the German data protection regulations.

In this article I would like to share my experiences with the Strato package HiDrive Media 100 and will expand this article from time to time and a few tips and tricks for using the HiDrive online storage will surely come out of it.
On the occasion of the IFA campaign by Strato, which provides 100GB HiDrive storage space for one euro / year, I chose the HiDrive Media 100 as a test object, but not without counting it. I don't want to calculate that for just one year, because then the 1 euro is of course unbeatable.

Since this contract is automatically extended by 12 months in the event of non-termination, you can of course quickly hang in it for 24 months or of course want to extend it if you like. In this case, costs of 6,90 euros per month arise in the second year. A change to a cheaper 24 month tariff does not seem possible.

Another advantage of Strato's IFA campaign is that there is no set-up fee, as is usually the case. In fact, it remains at one euro for the whole year, which is shown in the invoice as a set-up fee. So with 2 years costs would arise from 83,80 Euros.

The comparable tariff for 24 months HiDrive-Media 100 would cost € 4,90 / month plus a set-up fee of € 9,90 107,31 €.
That makes a difference of 23,51 €. Not as much as you would have thought without thinking for two years. However, this is due to the fact that after 12 months you pay € 6,90 per month and not € 4,90 as in the regular tariff for 24 months.
Still a very fair offer, both in terms of price and equipment. With other providers you pay significantly more.

The order

The ordering process is done quickly. Address, bank details etc. and you have 100 GB of cloud storage for one euro for a year.
The confirmation email comes only seconds later, as one can expect from automated processes.
The order confirmation is attached again as html and the terms and conditions as pdf.
Now you have to wait until the cloud storage is available.
Only 40 minutes later, the access data is in the mailbox. Fast processing.

 

Call up HiDrive

If you clicked on the link in the mail and entered the access data in the mask, HiDrive will open.

As you can see at the bottom right, the 100 GB are fully available.
Now the default password and username should first be changed to your own but secure one.
This is done by clicking on Account in the top right corner of the browser window, which takes you directly to the account settings.
This should be done as a first step before all other settings, as changing the user name later also
Change the access data, the personal folder (name) and the mail upload addresses that are set up on top of it.
