The free system tool Autoruns from Mirosoft offers the possibility to control the autostart of Windows more clearly and better.

Autoruns does not have to be installed and can be started by clicking on autoruns.exe. With Autoruns, applications, drivers and services for Windows start can be activated or deactivated. The advantage is that you can save the settings of Autoruns and reload them later, so you don't have to remember which programs have been activated or deactivated. Furthermore, printers, Internet Explorer, Schudeled tasks, codecs and network providers can be monitored.

With Autoruns you have a tool to clean up the system thoroughly and to check after a restart whether the cleanup has any undesired side effects. The registers "Logon","Internet Explorer","Scheduled Tasks" and "Sidebar Gadgets“Edited in other registers, one should proceed with caution in order not to risk Windows not starting any more.
