Iphone Macbook IBook and Co. invalid password for Wlan login

Iphone or Macbook invalid password for Wlan loginIt could be so easy, you have visitors and you want to offer guests wireless access to the home network for their Apple devices IPhone, IBook, Macbook and Co. but the login is simply not possible despite the correct password. Again and again you get the message "Invalid Password”! Here are a few possible solutions that can help you log in successfully.

First of all, it should be checked whether the router's WiFi security settings allow new devices.
The screenshots show the settings of a FritzBox.

Make the wireless network, i.e. the SSID, visible if it is hidden.

Name of the wireless network visible

Allow new devices to be connected, so remove the restriction that only devices known to the router are allowed to dial in.

Allow all new WiFi devices

If the password for the found WLAN has to be entered on the Apple device to be connected, do not enter the password in plain text. Instead choose the Hexadecimal representation of the password. This is e.g. B. in the FritzBox under WLAN> Security> WPA encryption and here WiFi network key to find. It is a longer sequence of numbers and letters. Note that it is case-sensitive and type the WiFi network key manually, do not copy and paste. This is more time-consuming, but copying and pasting doesn't always seem to bring the desired results.

Example: 274D67E89 ... ..

WiFi network key

If the login still doesn't work, add the WiFi network key
the characters 0x Ahead. (Zero x / Zero x)
For example: 0x274D67E89…

The input of the additional characters is of course not in the router but in the password input of the end device!

If the login still doesn't work, add the WiFi network key
the dollar sign $ Ahead.
For example: $274D67E89…

Should the login still with the message "Invalid Password”Fail, there is another trick that I myself use successfully. For this, however, the guest should have a MacBook etc., which has a LAN connection.
Connect the device with a LAN cable and test whether it works.
Disconnect it again and set up a WiFi connection with the variants described above, if necessary.
Often the WLAN login works afterwards and, interestingly, that of the iPhone too.
If not, it is possible to connect the iPhone with iTunes on the or another computer with wireless access, this usually causes the iPhone to be recognized and enables wireless access.

I hope this tip can help you. The net is full of this unspeakable problem and one can hardly believe that one has to deal with this banality these days.

Good luck
