Nexus Prime data and video exposed

The next Google phone comes with Android 4.0 and a 720p display

Even before the Unpacked keynote on October 11th, at which Samsung and Google will probably present the next Nexus smartphone, the web is seething with all kinds of rumors. In addition to the technical specifications that reveal the phone as a technical muscle package, there is now also a video that is supposed to show the "Nexus Prime" for the first time during operation with Android 4.0 "Ice-Cream Sandwich".

Large HD display

The processor that already powers the iPad 2 and the new iPhone 4S should work in the new Google Phone: a Cortex-A9 unit with two cores that is apparently clocked down from 1.5 GHz to 1.2 GHz. It is believed that this is supposed to serve a longer battery life, with the phone's battery delivering a respectable 1.750 mAh.

With a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, the 4.65-inch AMOLED display will be able to reproduce HD content in native resolution. Thanks to a gigabyte of RAM, this should also happen smoothly and also leave room for improvement when gaming. 32 gigabytes of integrated memory provide plenty of space for apps, videos and music, and an option to increase it via a microSD slot is also to be expected. The device should be only nine millimeters thick.

1080p videos and n-wifi

When it comes to the camera, the information in circulation diverges, but according to the latest information, a chip with a resolution of five megapixels and residual light amplification will be responsible for taking pictures. It is supported by numerous improvements on the software side. It should be possible to shoot videos in full HD resolution of 1080p. The front camera for video telephony will therefore work with 1.3 megapixels.

A WLAN module that supports the current 802.11n standard, which promises theoretical transmission rates of up to 300 m / bit, will be responsible for connectivity. A near-field communication chip is also on board.

Video shows Nexus Prime "in the wild"

As is typical for Google, Android 4.0 running on the phone will do without a special user interface. Gadget.ro has now published a video that is supposed to show the not yet officially presented Nexus Prime while it is running. Whether this is the real device or not will be revealed next Tuesday at the Unpacked.

Update (07.10.2011 / 14:30)
Samsung and Google have announced that the release of the Nexus Prime will be postponed indefinitely. "We agree that the time has not yet come to announce a new product," said the two companies in a press release. A reason for the delay was not given.
