Firefox 15 Beta

Firefox 15 Beta

The new beta of Firefox shows interesting innovations that are very useful. On the one hand, the more effective use of memory and, on the other hand, a very useful function in my opinion of displaying PDF files without an add-on.

Storage management

An optimization can be seen in the memory test compared to Firefox 14. With 150 open tabs, the test scenario is not really practical, but Firefox 15 is still in the beta phase. The storage optimization in connection with add-ons should be particularly noticeable. In the current version there are problems with add-ons. Firefox users who leave Firefox open for a long time and generate memory consumption of up to 1 GB should also benefit from the new memory management.

Native PDF viewing

By developing a JavaScript program that can open PDF files without an add-on, a native PDF display in Firefox is possible. Google Chrome already offers this function, most of them do not know that yet, but it can be easily tested. Simply right-click on a PDF file “open with” and then select Google Chrome. And Chrome will show the PDF.
