Panda Security warns of fake virus warnings on Facebook

The supposed warning is spread via email. Facebook users act in good faith and forward the e-mail, send the warning to their friends' inboxes or write them on their boards. This means that the counterfeit is spread in no time at all.

More and more Facebook users in Germany are receiving an English-language message in their Facebook inboxes, on the pin board or via email from concerned friends who want to warn of a virus. Users are being misled by the question of whether Facebook has been running slowly lately and with instructions on how to fix the problem. If there is an unnamed application (unnamed app) in the settings, it should be deleted because it is a Spybot, the message claims. The forgers also appeal to the helpfulness of Facebook users and call for the warning to be disseminated.

.

There is no direct link in the embassy, but if the user wants to find out more and searches for Facebook and the “Unnamed App” on the Internet, he ends up on various infected websites that were specially developed for downloading fake antivirus programs . In this case, the fake software is called LivePCCare.

Panda Security advises all users not to contribute to the distribution of this fake warning. You should also make sure that your computer is always protected with an up-to-date anti-virus program. If users want to check their PC for possible infections, they can test this with the free Active Scan from Panda - regardless of which virus protection they have installed: activescan
