Kai Dickmann, editor-in-chief of the Bild newspaper, incurs online costs of 42.000 euros for blogging on vacation.

When Kai Diekmann stayed in Morocco for three days in January, he also posted articles and videos on his blog.

The whole thing was broadcast by cellphone on his blog: “100 days in the life of an editor-in-chief”.

For this sending of the data plus surfing the Internet with a German mobile phone contract, the bill from German Telekom came in.

A full 42.000 euros was on the bill.

Although this invoice was forwarded to the Telekom Complaints Office, even Rene Obermann, Telekom boss, could not hold out any hope of an exemption from the costs.

Even if Kai Diekmann did not have to bear the costs himself, the Axel Springer Verlag paid this bill, an international flat rate would certainly have been cheaper.
