Microsoft is dropping support forums for Windows Windows 7 and more

Microsoft is pulling staff out of support forums starting July 2018

12.06.2018

As of July 2018, there will be no technical support from Microsoft employees in the following support forums. Michelle Mad announced this four days ago. What does that mean in concrete terms?

Specifically, this means that Microsoft paid employees will no longer actively respond to questions. Nevertheless, the company wants to continue to moderate the forums. The forums will remain open and will not be closed. The moderation is intended to ensure that positive cooperation is guaranteed.

However, users can still answer questions, this is expressly wanted.

Unfortunately the band and Zune forums will be closed completely. Topics will remain visible in the Zune forum.

Support will be discontinued for the following forums and areas.

  • Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1RT
  • Microsoft Security Essentials
  • Internet Explorer 10
  • Office 2010, Office 2013
  • Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface RT, Surface 2
  • Microsoft Band - this topic will be locked. Users are invited to participate in Microsoft Volume 2 topic.
  • Mobile devices forum - Microsoft support will continue in "Other Windows mobile devices" topic
  • Zune
