System Cleaner: BleachBit 2.0 for Windows 10

Clean up Windows 10 with BleachBit and delete unwanted files forever

03.06.2018
From time to time you should clean up your Windows 10. Now you could do the work and go through step by step which programs you no longer need and uninstall them and then search for and delete file corpses or you could use a little helper: D Such as the open source program BleachBit, which is a good alternative to CCleaner .

The BleachBit tool is freeware and offers a good interface. The surface is kept simple and also self-explanatory. Even people who are not very familiar with the PC should find their way around the tool.

What does BleachBit offer?

On request, BleachBit deletes unwanted files such as cookies from Firefox. This gives you a little more privacy ;-)

As already mentioned at the beginning, BleachBit is an alternative to CCleander, but a big difference is that BleachBit does not simply delete something, but the user himself has to tick what should be deleted. Of course, that has advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I think it's good if I already get an insight into what is being deleted, but the tool does the work of searching and deleting for me.

What do I mean by searching. BleachBit offers temporary files, log files and unneeded language files for deletion. It also searches the hard drive for files that are no longer used and that only take up space.

A very big advantage is that BleachBit knows about 70 applications and you can delete their cache, cookies or history with one click of the mouse. As an example, it works with Firefox, Chrome, Adobe Reader, Flash or Windows Media Player.

The simple interface shows a list of functions and a corresponding explanation. The job of the user is to go through the points and select the desired points and then click on Clean up click. As a preview it shows how much storage space will be free after the action.

Another option is to shred files or folders. Shredding means that the files or folders can no longer be recovered.

BleachBit and Firefox

Here is a screenshot of which files can be deleted from Firefox. The procedure is always tick the box on the left and then click Clean ;-)

On the left of the window you can see the name of the program in the Name column on the top level, then you can click on the plus sign on the left. Then a list opens as a tree structure. This list shows Backup files, Cache, Cookies, Crash reports, DOM Storage, Download History, Form history, Passwords, Session restore, Site preferences, URL history and Vacuum.

As you can see it is so einies what can be deleted.

In the second column next to Name is Active, you can delete the files or not according to your own preferences. To the right of Active, the Size column can be clearly seen here that Firefox also likes to treat itself to 1,04 GB cache ;-)

And last but not least, the BleachBit shows its todo log on the right.
