Wikileaks - Hackers launch attacks on banks

Mastercard and Visa have to defend themselves against DDoS attacks.

After the blocking of some Wikileaks donation accounts, the activist group “Anonymus” started a counterattack.

This group could overload the servers of both companies so that they could only be reached with difficulty or even temporarily not at all.

After the server was successfully paralyzed by the Mastercard, the following slogan could be found in the network:

"There are things that Wikileaks cannot do. For everything else, there is Operation Payback."

Further success reports that were distributed via Twitter led to the blocking of the Twitter accounts.

To get the Mastercard server down, at least 2000 hackers were required.

Almost 400 were enough for successful Visa server attacks.

This hack at Wikileaks means one thing, after all, advertising for the disclosure portal.

More and more users decide to mirror the Wikileaks page in order to keep their content online.

This means that Wikileaks does not necessarily have to publish their documents from their own servers.
