Accounting is a tiresome topic for many. Compiling bills, checking income and expenditure, drawing up balance sheets. Not only can the overview quickly go away, it is also terribly dry. All of this can be done very simply and clearly, so that the time required is reduced to a minimum. At least that's what the accounting software lexoffice, which focuses on the self-employed and small companies, promises.

Simple user interface

The graphical interface already gives it away. lexoffice is a program designed to enable users without much accounting knowledge to quickly find their way around and efficiently manage their finances. The software focuses on the essentials. The developers made a conscious decision to structure the databases in an elementary and reduced manner and forego more complex functions. For the target group addressed, this is completely sufficient. The cloud-based app does not rely on double-entry bookkeeping, but on the simpler income surplus account, EÜR for short. Other functions have been and will be gradually added, such as the integration of online banking or a payroll accounting system.

The invoice document as a basis

The basis of the booking system is the invoice document, which is inserted digitally.
Either directly as a file or via scan. The document is photographed and the software determines the necessary data such as invoice number or date via text recognition. If the app is wrong and misinterprets the scanned document, you can help manually. This works extremely well in practice.
The program also tries to automatically record the account assignment of the business transactions, i.e. purchase and sale. With similarly impressive successes. Incorrect assignments can also be corrected here with just a few clicks. The appropriate account can be selected from a list of different and useful suggestions.

Meaningful summary of all data

The program saves the data and summarizes them clearly. The user can draw important conclusions from this, such as the amount of the profit, the annual turnover or the tax burden incurred.
The posting records are recorded with a receipt and stored and can be found again quickly in order to identify discrepancies and correct them if necessary. When presented to the tax office, all inputs and outputs can be checked quickly and easily. The susceptibility to errors is correspondingly low. The possibility of linking the functions of lexoffice with other programs is also excellent. For example, the data can be transferred to the tax return program smartsteuer.

Scope and costs

Prices vary depending on the scope of the program. lexoffice offers three models between EUR 9,90 and EUR 24,90, which can be canceled monthly. Updates, hosting and support are included in the price. A fair offer given the performance the program offers. The program works flawlessly both on the mobile phone or the laptop as an app and on the computer via a browser. The app is certainly not sufficient for larger companies due to the lack of double-entry bookkeeping and other functions, but it explicitly doesn't want to be. For the self-employed and small entrepreneurs, on the other hand, the program is perfectly suited and the undisputed leader. Especially since an unlimited number of users can be granted access to the program. Customers therefore do not need to purchase additional licenses for employees.
