The free little tool retrofits a function under Windows 7 that is called Exposé under Mac OS X. With a certain key combination, all open windows are displayed next to one another. There are again three different arrangement structures for this representation. If you compare the function with that of Windows 7 Aero, which is via the Win + TAB If a key combination is available, the advantage in terms of clarity is clearly with Switcher. Here you can see all the windows next to each other and not one behind the other. Of course, more than four windows should already be open for the comparison.

After the installation, the program can be found in the start menu> All Programs> Switches.

 

If you call it up for the first time, you get the following Home view:

 

In the area 1. you should first choose between the Arrangement structures choose the window. Here it is advisable to simply try out all of them in order to then determine the favorite.

The two hooks should be in the 2. Area must already be set so that the key combination can be used again immediately after restarting the system.

Select the item on the left in the menu Appearance (Appearance) from, can be seen under desktop choose whether this should be shown in the background when the windows are displayed or not. If you decide on the setting Do not show:, the windows are shown on a black background.

 

 

Under Window it presents itself on the hook Enable windows numbers to remove. If this is not removed, a number is assigned to each window so that it can be brought to the foreground using the keyboard. It should be easier with a simple click of the mouse.

Now all that's missing is a meaningful one shortcut to start the program. For that you switch to Shortcuts.

 

 

About the button Change the default setting can be changed. To do this, simply click with the mouse in the input area and use the desired key combination. Here I am for Win+Y decided because this has not yet been taken and it does not require any finger acrobatics.

 

Important it is that after every intervention in the program this is done with the button Hide and not exit Exit, otherwise the key combination will no longer be available.
