Every year, the popular TuneUp Utilities appear in a revised version and bring with them the necessary adjustments to the new generation of operating systems and additional functions.
In the past few years we have reported regularly on the current versions and we also want to present the latest version of the TuneUp Utilities.

System Requirements

  • Windows XP (from Service Pack 2), Vista or Windows 7 (each 32- or 64-bit version)
  • 256 MB RAM
  • at least 300 MB free hard disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Screen resolution from 1024 x 600 pixels

Users of TuneUp Utilities 2009 will initially notice a changed interface on which apparently fewer functions are available than in the previous version.
But also a new area, the turbo mode.
There is also TuneUp Live Optimization, which monitors the load on the computer in real time and can intervene if necessary to prevent acute slowdowns in speed.

The start interface is divided into 4 categories, which serve as the main category for the respective optimizations.
Identified problems, notes or simply the selected status, such as manual or automatic system maintenance, are displayed there.
A click on "All functions" in the lower part of the respective "block" shows the possible actions in this area.

The turbo mode
The TuneUp Turbo mode is intended to provide a boost in performance by analyzing which tasks, programs and functionalities that are not absolutely necessary are currently being executed in the background.
These are stopped or slowed down when the turbo mode is activated so that the computing power gained is available exclusively to the programs actually used.
So the previously stuttering game can run smoother.
When using the TuneUp Turbo mode for the first time, an assistant will help and guide you to your personal Turbo mode in five clear steps.
Once configured, the turbo mode can now be activated by clicking on the turbo mode button or via the TuneUp Utilities symbol in the notification area of the taskbar.

TuneUp Live optimization

TuneUp Live Optimization consists of two intelligent optimization measures that monitor the load on the computer in real time and can therefore intervene if necessary to prevent acute slowdowns in speed.
This is done through intelligent prioritization of the running programs.
TuneUp Live Optimization can be found in the Increase Performance category via All Functions.
If the system is currently very busy and another program is started, TuneUp Live Optimization ensures a faster start by giving it higher priority for a short time.
A background program that requires a lot of performance is also given a lower priority, so that the programs currently in use run more smoothly again.
This should enable quick work even when the workload is high.
TuneUp Live Optimization runs in the background and any action by TuneUp Live Optimization is only indicated by an icon in the notification area of the taskbar.

The TuneUp gadget
The mini-application, also known as a widget or gadget, shows the status of the computer clearly and directly on the desktop.
The TuneUp gadget only works with Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The TuneUp optimization report
Since TuneUp Utilities 2010 can optimize a lot in the background, the optimization report is a useful aid to find out to what extent TuneUp Utilities has optimized the computer.

Prices
The software is available at the recommended retail price of 39,95 euros. Users of a previous version can upgrade to TuneUp Utilities 24,95 for 2010 euros.
If you want to try the software first, you can download a 30-day test version free of charge.
