Who doesn’t know the cool and useful look of Windows Vista.
This also applies to the drive symbols in the Vista workstation, as they show the with a graphic The level of the drives
Windows XP offers rather simple and sober-looking symbols.

With the small but fine freeware tool Vista Drive Icon, the workstation symbols can be changed from Windows XP to a Windows Vista-like appearance with a level indicator.
Program description
Vista drive icon is only a few kilobytes in size and can be easily installed via setup.
Once installed, the tool runs immediately and changes the icons accordingly.
As in Windows Vista, the fill level is displayed in a kind of turquoise and changes to the red area when the memory is high.
Unfortunately, the display is only similar to that of Vista, since the memory allocation of the individual drives is only shown visually and somewhat reduced.
You have to do without the values in numbers here as well.
The program is started as a separate process and occupies approx. 1 MB (1040K) in memory, so no changes are made to the Windows XP shell. The previous version 1.2 still had approx. 3 MB of memory.
An uninstall routine is included to remove the program.
Installation
After starting the installation, the language is first asked, DriveIcon usually presents the correct selection right away.

Then you have to agree to the license conditions and specify the desired installation folder.

The required memory in the present version 1.3 was just 749 kilobyte.
At the end of the installation, a checkmark can be set to start Vista Drive Icon immediately after the setup has been completed.
