In the setup that starts automatically, the correct version must be selected (PCI version, external or software solution).
PCI Version and External are hardware variants.

In the next step the configuration can be done under "Options".

  • Set up backup file
  • Set up options
  • Set protection mode
  • Password and destination folder
  • Setup configuration
  • User menu
  • Set up partitions

To complete the installation, the installation CD must be removed from the CD-ROM drive and a restart is pending.
HDD Sheriff easy recovery is then active with the options set. The status is represented by a blue or red star in the system tray (systray).

The schedule

The options set during setup are of course not final and can be changed by clicking on the star in the systray.
There are 3 different modes:

1. Manual recovery mode
System recovery after user intervention
In this mode, users, administrators, teachers or students can test software, delete data or make changes to the system without any worries.
After a certain period of time, the changes can be saved, accepted, or discarded.
A password is required to apply the changes.

2. Supervisor mode
Administration mode
In the password-protected supervisor mode, the protection of the HDD SHERIFF easy recovery is deactivated and changes become effective and irrevocable.
This mode is required to install additional software and service packs on the PC, for example.

3. Auto recovery mode
Automatic system recovery with every restart
The system is reset to the defined, stable and operational state by simply restarting the PC.
