Work faster and more productively with KeyRocketKeyRocket

KeyRocket is a small Windows tool that runs continuously in the background. It does not require any configuration and is available free of charge for non-commercial use.
KeyRocket helps you learn and work with keyboard shortcuts. It informs in Windows Explorer and Office whether the action that you have just performed with the mouse can also be performed with the keyboard. A small window on the right side of the lower edge of the screen shows the combination.

But what is KeyRocket?

KeyRocket helps you learn and work with keyboard shortcuts. It informs in Windows Explorer and Office whether the action that you have just performed with the mouse can also be performed with the keyboard. A small window on the right side of the lower edge of the screen shows the combination. The design of the software is very modern and clear and therefore a real "eye-catcher". The program has now learned over 1600 key combinations and displays a key combination for almost every click of the mouse. However, there are some limitations. In Windows Explorer it only works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and even in the new Windows 8. So the program cannot be used for old devices that are not equipped with the latest software. In the Office area it only supports Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010. It does not use any other programs such as the media player or the Windows photo and fax viewer, which I personally very much regret.

Commercial use for companies costs 5 euros per month per license. In addition, you get free support in case of problems. A license for one year is 50 euros including updates for new versions.

The program was developed by 2 young men who now run their own small software company Veodin GmbH in Berlin and also sell their product abroad. Because the program is written in German and English. The company is currently developing the program so that it will soon be able to use Adobe Photoshop. The company is on the rise in the software industry and the high-tech start-up fund has already entered the company as an investor.

On the website you can see the shortcuts sorted in a list. If you see a key combination and then use it a few times, the program reports that you have successfully learned this combination. This message motivates, in my opinion, further learning. However, statistics in the settings area also show how often a combination has not been used or ignored. A percentage value can also be used to determine how often you have now used the keyboard instead of the mouse.

The young company's latest invention is the Google Chrome plug-in for Gmail (formerly Google Mail in Germany). Like the desktop version, it shows the keyboard commands in the browser. If you are currently organizing your Google mails, it will show useful combinations such as delete, mark as read or forward. The display disappears after approx. 5 seconds, but can be displayed again with "?".

I think the tool is great. It is easy to use and makes everyday routine clicks much easier. That saves time and long detours with the mouse are a thing of the past. The inventor's idea is ingenious and therefore highly recommended. The tool is really fun, especially for office work for formatting texts in Word and when dealing with large Excel tables. The memory makes it easy to remember the commands on the keyboard. It is suitable for beginners as well as for people who have already mastered CTRL + C and CTRL + V. However, further development for other Windows programs that are installed by default would be very desirable.
