Under Vista you have two options to process the autostart with the given on-board tools.
1. The system configuration
Home > To run > ??msconfig?? input
or alternatively: Windows + R and then ??msconfig?? input.
In dialogue ??System configuration?? you see now below startup all services that are loaded when Vista starts. If you discover a program that should not be loaded, remove the check mark in the box.
Two candidates in the dialog box would be, for example, the two dots from Adobe that belong to the Adobe Reader. You can start these programs manually if you don't need them every day.
If you don't know what an entry stands for, take the trouble and look on Google to see if the start is mandatory.
Then you confirm the changes with ??Apply?? and closes the field with ??OK“.
It would be advisable to restart now. You will then see the following dialog box:
You can now test the system by clicking ??OK?? press and once you work in the system or you know that your changes should remain set as before, then, like me, tick the box. This means that the above-mentioned information does not apply to a new start.
2.Windows Defender
The program, which is actually intended to avert danger under Vista, offers an interesting secondary function. You can use this program to process the autostart, which is also much more convenient, as under point 1, the system configuration.
Calling up the program under Start> Programs
or alternatively under
Start> Control Panel> Security> Windows Defender
Under Extras > Software explorer you can find the point here Startup programs.
You can click on each autostart on the left and then you will find detailed information on the started program on the right. In the lower menu field its autostart can be deactivated or, where you are sure that the program has nothing to look for in the autostart, can also be removed.
Don't worry, the program is just no longer in the autostart.
It is definitely still available as an executable program.
Then you end the Defender and can continue working as normal. Changes can be undone here at any time or further editing can be carried out.
