Windows Vista SuperFetch

SuperFetch, enables files and applications to be loaded much faster. Improved memory management ensures optimal utilization of the available working memory.
This service is not completely new, we already know it under Windows XP as "prefetch". However, this service has been significantly improved, which seems necessary in view of the memory hunger of Window Vista.

Under Windows XP, the system automatically carried out background tasks during work breaks, which of course took up memory and, if work continued, it sometimes took a while until the system was fully available again because the applications first had to be loaded into the memory again.

SuperFetch uses a so-called "intelligent prioritization scheme", which recognizes applications that are used most and loads them into the main memory in advance.
As a result, the system reacts more quickly when it is started up, work is continued after a break, or when it is switched to a different user profile.

A distinction is made not only according to the frequently used applications, but also according to different times at which various applications are used most frequently. Over time, SuperFetch learns which applications are used most frequently and when, for example, loading different applications into the RAM on the weekend than during the week.
Due to the ability to give certain applications higher priority over background services, the computer remains responsive even after long breaks from work.
