Check the PC with the "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor"

Microsoft has released a small tool with which it is possible to use existing computersvista_installation.png
Check for Windows Vista suitability.
The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor only works on Windows XP computers, as the technologies required for the tool are only available from Windows XP.
There are a few restrictions with TV tuner cards, although these are found, it cannot be determined whether they are Windows Vista compatible.

System Requirements:

  • Supported operating systems: Windows XP Service Pack 2
  • At least .NET Framework 1.1 and MSXML 4.0 are required

The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor checks the computer after installation and creates a report
about possible problems with the system or device compatibility and gives a list of recommendations on how to optimize the computer.
At the end of the day, you have the information you need to know which version of Windows Vista should be installed and which hardware updates are necessary for the Windows
Vista version and the respective feature of Windows Vista.

In our test it was the "Windows Vista Home Basic"although the computer was quite well equipped with, among other things, a 3 GHZ processor.
However, the inadequate ram equipment was pointed out. 512 MB is the lower limit for the better equipped Windows Vista versions.
The information is divided into

System, Devices, Programs and Tasklist

The task list is a list of information about what to do to make the computer compatible with Windows Vista. All essential information is bundled here once again.
All information determined can be printed out and / or saved as a file.
