The error message appears when installing different programs
"The Windows Installer service could not be accessed
This can occur if the Windows Installer does not work properly
Has been installed. Contact support for further assistance
to obtain".
In the following we describe possible solutions to solve the problem.

These problems occur with installations of * .msi installation packages.
The Windows Installer adds, changes or removes applications that are offered as a Windows Installer package (* .msi).
If this service is deactivated, all services that explicitly depend on it cannot be started.

Possible causes:

  • Windows runs in Safe Mode.
  • The Windows Installer is not installed correctly.
  • The Windows Installer service is not running.

First, make sure that the service is actually running.

Go to it Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services
in the list of services and search for the Windows Installer service.
This should be on manually or Automatically to stand.

If this has the status Deactivated change the setting.
With a double click on the service the settings dialog opens in which this can be done.

If the service already has the correct status, re-register the Windows Installer.
To re-register the Windows Installer, start the command prompt from the start menu
and entering cmd in the search field> Enter

In the command prompt that is now open
enter the following commands in sequence, each followed by Enter.

msiexec / unregister
msiexec / register
regsvr32 msi.dll
regsvr32 msihnd.dll

Close the command prompt.
After that, it should work again.
