In this article I describe the setting options and give a rough overview of the services.
The services under Windows Vista can be clicked on "Manual ","Deactivated"Or"Automatically" place.
Manual : Before the service is started, Windows asks.
Deactivated: Windows cannot start the service.
Automatically: The service can be started by Windows without asking.
Start services:
On the Windows symbol or Windows key and simply in the search field of Vista "services"Enter" and confirm with the Enter key (Return).
Be careful when deactivating services. If changes are made, a current list should always be exported beforehand. I recommend a service first Manual and deactivate it after a while.
Export list:
In the toolbar on Export list, a text file is created that can be opened in a spreadsheet program (Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc). From the list you can then compare the status with the current status and reset everything.

Services that cannot be switched off
(disable) should!
The RPC service is a service on which almost all system components depend and the RPC service in turn depends on the DCOM Server Process Launcher, both services must not be stopped or deactivated.
Anyone who needs audio in the home area should not deactivate the following services:
Multimedia class planner, Windows audio endpoint creation, and plug and play.
The way food is Print queue I recommend leaving it on the "Automatic" status.
If you have more than just a Windows computer (PC and notebook) you should definitely use the Workstation Service leave untouched. (If a network is to be set up)
So that the service manager runs, you should use the Windows management instrumentation leave active.
Finally, you should User Profile Service also do not deactivate, because otherwise you will no longer be able to log in under Windows, as well as the Cryptographic service which is necessary for the Windows Update.
The topic of services under Windows is interesting, you should take it easy and test it extensively. Once you have only started the necessary services, you will quickly notice that the system is working much faster.
Have fun testing.
