Make Windows 10 faster with an SSD hard drive
switch off by hibernation

Speed up Windows 10 SSD hard drive and disable hibernation

If you have an SSD hard drive, it makes sense to deactivate hibernation. If you put Windows into hibernation, a large amount of data is saved in the hyberfil.sys file. This file easily has the size of the main memory and thus the SSD hard drive is heavily loaded. In the following tip show, hibernation is deactivated.

Deactivate hibernation via the command line:

  • Enter "cmd" with the Windows key combination and start the command line with the right mouse button as Admin.
  • Enter the command "powercfg -h off" in the command line and confirm with the return key.

There is no message, the command will be executed without a success message.

Hibernation is deactivated and the hyberfil.sys file is deleted. This will free up some GB of memory.
