Switch Windows 10 to Ultimate Performance

If you need ultimate performance you should take a look at this tip!

Windows 10 tips - quick access in Explorer

You can never get enough of performance, performance and even more performance. To get everything out of the hardware, Microsoft has developed the Ultimate Performance Mode for Windows 10. Unfortunately, this option (power mode) is not available for all Windows 10 workstation editions. With the following tip you can also activate the options in other Windows 10 versions.

Only since the April update - Windows 10 April 2018 Update - Ultimate Performance Mode is available for Windows 10. As a result, you can expect more performance from Windows 10. Sounds good, but Microsoft has not activated the option for all Windows 10 versions. The power mode is only visible in special Windows 10 Workstation Edition.

Unlock Ultimate Performance Mode:

  • Start the command prompt with admin rights
  • Then copy and paste the following entry> powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61 into the command prompt
  • Confirm with Enter

In the Energy Options window there is now the checkbox - Ultimate Performance - (Provides ultimate performance on higher-end PCs.

Activate power mode

By activating the power mode (ultimate performance), Windows 10 switches off all energy-saving functions. There are not only advantages to this, either. Electricity consumption will increase, which is self-explanatory. The hard drives do not go to sleep and all other components of the system behave in the same way. There is no longer any value placed on thrift, but maybe that is also wanted, for example for gamers ;-)

Notebook owners who work on the move are advised not to use the power mode, but test (try out) what the notebook can do ;-)
