If Windows carries out a data carrier consistency check every time the operating system is booted, this check can quickly lead to the computer freezing or a blue screen appearing.

 

This check can also take a long time in individual cases.
In order to switch off the data carrier consistency check, it is necessary to intervene in the registry.

 

But please make sure that you back up the registry before you intervene.
By backing up, the registry can be restored in the event of an error.

 

Go:
Start> Run> regedit .

Now look for the key:

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Session Manager
You can now edit autochk under: BootExecute autocheck.

 

This entry is now changed to: autochk: c.
Changing this will prevent scanning to drive C.

 

 

 

To prevent scanning on other drives, the entry z. B. look like this:

 

autochk: cde
In this example, scanning would be prevented on the CDE drives.
Switching off the disk consistency check should only be done in really extreme cases.
Windows runs this check in most cases because of a hard drive failure.
It is therefore advisable to test the built-in hard drive.
