Change and customize Windows 7 desktop icons

Change the size of the desktop icons and adjust their spacing.

Even if it is no longer absolutely necessary to use many desktop icons under Windows 7, it is still a popular means to have quick access to frequently used programs or files.
In order to get more space on the desktop for further symbols, the size and spacing of these symbols can be adjusted.

There are three templates to choose from for the size of the symbols:

  1. Great symbols
  2. Medium-sized icons
  3. Small symbols

To change the size of the symbols you go the following way:

Right click on a free space on the Desktop> View.
The upper three entries in the new window now offer the selection of the symbol sizes.

If you choose here: "Small symbols"you get a lot more space on the desktop.
If the space gained is still too small, the symbol spacing can still be changed.

Change symbol spacing
:
Right click on a free space on the Desktop> Customize> Window Color.
In the new window on "Element"click.

In the next window you look for the entries:

Symbol spacing (horizontal)

Symbol spacing (vertical)

The spacing between the symbols can now be changed here.
But be careful, please do not choose too small spaces, otherwise the icons will be too small and the desktop will be confusing.

My tip:
Better to work in small steps to the settings that you like best.
