It does not always have to be a DVD installation; in contrast to Windows Vista, Windows 7 can also be installed from a USB stick.
An advantage that should not be disregarded is that the installation is much faster, since the time-consuming expansion of Windows files is slowed down by the optical drive.
There are only a few small things to consider.

First of all, the USB stick, which should have at least 4GB of storage, must be prepared and then all data from the Win7 DVD or an ISO file must be copied to this USB stick.
ISO files have to be can be extracted with Winrar.
In order to start the installation, the USB stick must be bootable; this must be edited.
The best way to do this is with the Diskpart command line tool.

Important for Windows XP users:

This guide works not with the disk part contained in Windows XP, no USB sticks are recognized here.
Only Vista recognizes and processes this properly.
Windows XP users (but also Vista users) can access the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool fall back on.
This offers a graphical user interface, does not require any installation and offers all setting options in a small window.
Download the tool from win-tipps-tweaks.de, of course, you can find the link at the end of this article.
But let's get started.

But beware!
Diskpart can also delete all partitions on the computer if used incorrectly, so please work very carefully!
It is advisable not to have any unnecessary additional sticks plugged in, so that it remains a little clear.
Start the command line (input prompt) by entering cmd run under start.
We now call via the command line DISKPART on

As the first command we now give the command List Disk ausbinstal_2.jpg
Here we can now see all installed media.
The USB stick can be recognized immediately by the size of the media.
We now select this with the command select disk + number of the medium.
So it has to be for data carrier 1 now, for example select disk 1 can be entered

After entering select disk again, you should see an asterisk in front of the selected medium.
If this is the case, we are on the right track, because no other medium can be attacked in any further steps. Now the stick with the command clean cleaned.usbinstal_4.jpg

The next step is to create a new partition.
We give the order for this create partition primary .usbinstal_5.jpg

After partitioning, which only takes a few seconds, has to be activated.
This is done with the command active initiated.usbinstal_6.jpg

Important ! The stick now has to be formatted.
The command format fs = fat32 quick entered.
Alternatively, the embroidery designation (label) can also be specified.
This is the order format fs = fat32 label = "Win 7" quickusbinstal_7.jpg

After partitioning, the command assign a drive letter can be assigned.usbinstal_8.jpg

Now we open the new data carrier and move all the files on the DVD or the unzipped ISO file to this stick.

After changing the boot order, Windows 7 can be installed without any problems
