Windows 7 - Install XP Mode

The current most used operating system for PC is still Microsoft Windows XP. The current Windows Vista operating system could not change that either. Microsoft takes another step and tries with Windows 7 to retire the old XP. Microsoft has invested a lot in thisLet it fall and a feature why the project could possibly succeed is the XP mode (XPM).

In order to keep the Windows operating system competitive, the kernel had to be reprogrammed, which resulted in program incompatibility, ie programs that run and were acquired under Windows XP cannot run under Windows Vista. In order to avoid the costs of an update or a new purchase of the program, one simply does not switch to a new operating system. This argument does not apply to XP mode.

What is XP mode?
The XP mode is nothing else than the virtualization software virtual PC preinstalled with Windows XP SP3. The XP mode consists of two components: Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode.
With XP mode, driver problems are a thing of the past and you no longer need to buy new software.
But there are also a few points to consider in XP mode.

  • Only Windows 7 versions Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise are expected to be supported.
  • The computer should have at least 2 GB of RAM and a further 15 GB of storage space.
  • A processor that supports hardware virtualization and is activated in the BIOS.
