Perform Windows 7 energy analysis on a netbook

Users of a netbook or laptop naturally want to keep the power consumption in battery mode as low as possible. The first way to do this is via the energy saving function of the netbook.

But were these settings really adopted?
And which hardware consumes the most electricity?
For these questions, Windows 7 has a perfect tool on board to expose these power guzzlers.

This tool can be opened as follows.
First we click Home.
Then we enter in the search field: ??cmd?? a.

Caution! It is very important here that search box select, per To run this tip does not work!
Caution! Do not confirm with Enter now!

Now we need the keyboard shortcut:
[Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Enter / Return].

This means that the prompt in Administrator mode is started.
Now we give the command:
powercfg -energy -output c: \ energy.html
and confirm this with Enter.
Windows 7 now starts a power consumption analysis.
All built-in hardware and connected devices are tested.

The analysis result is available under:
C: \ energy.html stored in an HTML file.

A double click on this file now opens an energy efficiency diagnosis report in the browser window.
This report now shows which devices are using too much electricity or whether devices are active which should actually be switched off.
Suggestions for optimizing the energy-saving functions are also given.
E.g. whether a driver update would be necessary.
