The Windows 7 versions at a glance

Windows 7 is to be sold in a total of 6 versions.
There are also Windows 7 upgrade versions for Windows XP users.
These versions will be cheaper to buy, but as one might suspect, they will probably not allow a direct update from Windows XP to Windows 7.
A complete new installation of the system is required for the update versions.
Below is an overview of the versions to be expected.

 

System requirements for Windows 7

7 Windows Starter
Only available as an OEM version for new PCs worldwide.
A maximum of three programs can be run at the same time.

7 Windows Home Basic
Only in emerging markets / emerging markets.

7 Windows Home Premium
Worldwide as an OEM or regular sales version.

Windows 7 Professional
Worldwide as an OEM or regular sales version.

7 Windows Enterprise
As a volume license.

Windows Ultimate 7
Limited as an OEM version.
