In Windows 7, troubleshooting can be started manually. So you now have the possibility to check the system without having to reproduce the error. The most difficult errors are precisely those that cannot be reproduced, but you can guess what the reason might be. Microsoft has prepared a few categories for this in order to speed up the search.

To start troubleshooting, proceed as follows:

Home > control Panel > Identify and fix problems

Identify and fix problems

The main categories are in this window Programs, Hardware and Sound, Network and Internet, Appearance and Personalization, System and Security:

Troubleshoot computer problems

To show a possible error handling: go to the Hardware and Sound Upper category.
The next window shows which categories are in the Hardware and Sound main category. For this example we choose Playing audio.

After confirming the Continue button, a list will show what has been checked. If no suitable error is displayed, you can display other options (error handling options).

The possibilities are numerous. Search Help and Support, Windows Communities, Find Related Troubleshooting, Ask a Friend, Recovery, or and online support are offered as next possible steps.
