Windows Live is a collection of Microsoft online services that cover a variety of applications and functions.
There are currently 22 Windows Live services that are offered free of charge.
After registering and assigning a Windows Live ID, all services, such as Windows Live SkyDrive with 25 GB storage space, Windows Live Photos can be used for photo albums on the Internet and much more.
The services are linked wherever possible.
The Windows Live services can only be used from Windows XP, but are best used with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
With Windows Live Essentials, Microsoft provides an installer that installs several Windows Live tools at once.
Windows Live Essentials can be used from Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (only 32-bit version), Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit version), Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit version ) or Windows Server 2008 must be installed.
Administrator rights are required to install or uninstall Windows Live products.
The system requirements for Windows Live Essentials:

Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit version) or
Windows Server 2008.
Note
Windows Live Movie Maker and the Windows Live Photo Gallery slideshow feature are not supported on Windows XP.

1 GHz or higher for Windows 7 or Windows Vista; 800 MHz or higher for Windows XP.
Random access memory:
512 MB RAM for Windows 7 or Windows Vista; 128 MB (256 MB or more recommended) for Windows XP.
Resolution:
1024 x 768 minimum
Internet connection:
Dial-up or broadband internet access is required to use the internet (sold separately). Local or long distance phone charges may apply.

Windows Live Toolbar requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, or Internet Explorer 8.
Graphics or video card:
Windows Live Movie Maker requires a graphics card that supports DirectX 9.0 or higher and Shader Model 2.0 or higher.
If a full installation is selected, the following programs are installed:
Windows Live Messenger, Mail, Writer, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Family Safety and Toolbar.
Other programs that have already been installed may be updated:
