Windows 8 control the sensitivity of the charms bar

The constant fading in of the charm bar is particularly annoying on notebooks or the PC, as it is often unintentionally faded in when you move the mouse into the upper or lower right corner.
With a setting in the registry you can make the display much less sensitive.

In order to change the behavior of the charm bar, a new entry must be created in the registry.
This means that the charm bar is only displayed when you explicitly move the mouse from the upper or lower right corner to the center. In this way, annoying unwanted overlays are almost eliminated.

Start the registry editor regedit by entering "Search" regedit enter. The regedit icon will appear on the left, click on it and the registry editor will start.
regedit

The tree structure with its main keys is displayed in the left area of the registry editor.
Interesting for us is the key Hkey_Current_User
Navigate to the key
"Hkey_Current_User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ ImmersiveShell"
There has to be a new key called edgeUI
Right click on the entry ImmersiveShell and choose New> key.

ImmersiveShell

The entry now appears as a subkey New key # 1 highlighted in blue.
Change this to edgeUI

edgeUI

Now click with the right mouse button edgeUI and choose New> DWORD value (32-bit)
The newly created entry New value # 1 in the right area of the register editor give the name DisableCharmsHint.
Double click DisableCharmsHint and forgive the in the dialog that opens Value 1 and confirm this with OK

DisableCharmsHint

EdgeUI DisableCharmsHint

From now on the charm bar only appears when the Cursor* is explicitly moved from one of the right corners to the center.
