Windows XP-7 and 8 Capslock disable or enable caps lock

How do I disable or enable the Caps Lock key on the keyboard? We have all experienced it before, you type in front of yourself and don't look at the monitor the whole time and the next time you look it brings a flush of anger to your face, ALL CAPITAL!
What happened? The caps lock key was accidentally pressed and everything is capitalized afterwards.
Since the disruptive factor is greater than the benefit in most cases, it makes sense to simply lock this key and avoid reworking in the future if the capslock key is accidentally pressed.

How do I disable or enable the Caps Lock key on the keyboard?

In order to switch off the caps lock key on the keyboard, an intervention in the registry of Windows-8 is necessary.

Start the registry editor regedit with the key combination Windows key + R, enter in the execution dialog "regedit"and confirm with Enter.
Now regedit starts.

regedit

Look for the key in the left pane of the editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Keyboard Layout
There click with the right mouse button in the right window area and select
New> binary value

capslock_new_binary

Name this entry "ScanCode Map"
Öffner to ScanCode Map with a double click and enter the following characters
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 3A 00 00 00 00 00

scan code map

There are already a few digits in the input window, these can be ignored.
Confirm your entry.
That's it after a restart, the Caps Lock key is disabled.

Enter ScanCode Map automatically via reg file

These files automatically enter the corresponding keys or values. Use at your own risk.

Alternatively, ScanCode Map can also be created automatically via the reg file capslock_disabled.reg that I created.
Download the capslock.zip, unzip it and right click on capslock_disabled.reg and choose "Merge". Windows issues a warning and after confirming the process, the message about a successful merge appears.
Restart the system. The old state can be used with capslock_active.reg to be restored

Download capslock.zip (contains two files to activate or deactivate)
