The start of Checkdisk allows itself a waiting time of 10 seconds.
Anyone who frequently struggles with problems that an automatic start of this
Triggering tools will be grateful for a shortening of this process.
How do I shorten the waiting time?
This is made possible by an undocumented chkdsk parameter.
Still available in Windows2000, it will at least be in the Command line reference
WindowsXP's not described.
Go to Start> Run and enter the following command: chkntfs / T: *
The star can be any number.
so for example chkntfs / T: 3 shortens the waiting time to 3 seconds.
However, taking less than 3 seconds is not recommended because it prevents a user
a potentially very time-consuming automatic file check cancels.
The change is permanent.
Interestingly, this command seems to apply to FAT32 formatting as well.
