Delete / overwrite swap file on shutdown
The swap file (virtual memory) of XP is used to swap out data from the main memory if this should become scarce. Since it is not deleted, it may be advisable for security reasons to delete the swap file every time the system is shut down.
Whereby delete the commonly used expression for this tip, but unfortunately it is wrong.
The swap file is not deleted by changing the registry key described below, it is simply overwritten and created again at the next start.
This is not particularly beneficial for the performance, as the shutdown can take significantly longer.
How do I delete / overwrite the swap file every time I shut down?
Start >> run >> regedit
Find this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Session Manager \ MemoryManagement
In the right window the DWord value ClearPageFileAtShutdown open with a double click and
the material moisture meter shows you the Value from 0 to 1 . change
*** Important caveat: ***
In connection with the tip: shutdown with turbo
this setting must not be used or this value must be set to "0".
Otherwise the opposite effect, i.e. a delayed driving down, is possible.
