Create and use your own desktop icons

 
Who the Windows in the file:
SHELL32.DLL in the \Windows\System32“ folder Folder icons are too boring can quickly and easily create their own icons.
Here I would like to show you how using the program IrfanView this is possible.

 

 
First you should save the image to be used in a folder.
You then call this, for example. icons.
This should make it easier to find the picture later.


Now we start the IrfanView program and click on: File >> Open.

Here you look for the previously created Icons folder and choose the image you want to use.

Then you click on picture >> change size.

It is now important to specify the height and width in 36/36.
Because that is the icon size that can be displayed.

Now we click on ok.

 


In the new window we see the .. shrunk .. picture.

Now comes the most important part of our work.
Correct saving of the new image file.
To do this, we go to File >> Save and select the file type here ICO windows icon the end. Here it is very important to choose this file type, otherwise the icons cannot be processed by Windows.

We'll use ours again as the storage location Folder icons.
Now we have created a new Windows icon.
This can now be used immediately.


It's basically very easy.
We right-click on the folder whose icon we want to change.
Here we choose Features>> Adapt .
In the new window we are looking for the button Other symbol... and click on it.

 
Now we should have landed in the SHELL32.DLL folder.

But we don't want to use these Windows icons and instead click on Browse.

We go to our Icons folder and select our created icon.

Click on Ok, Apply and again on Ok we gave the folder a personal touch.
Once you have these steps in your blood, changing the desktop icons is really fun and I think it looks a lot better on it.
