Create Office XP CD with integrated SP3

Create Office XP CD with integrated SP3

These instructions only work with an Office Enterprise Edition.

Brief explanation about this:

A "checkup" of which version is available can be made on the CD using the names of the MSI files, which are "PROPLUS.MSI" or "PRO.MSI". The following command sequences are also based on the integration of the SP3 files into those on the CD. However, the quickest/safest way to get information would be to check on the CD whether there is an "ORK" folder, which only the Enterprise versions have.

If there is enough space, the "old" CD without SP should also be copied to a folder on the hard drive. This is then faster afterwards than from the CD and also prevents read errors, but it is not mandatory. Then simply leave out the folder "office-org-cd".

What is needed?

3 folders must be created on a partition of your choice.
Here it should I: \ be. The folder names are freely selectable, but then you have to adapt the command lines.

i: \ office-org-cd <--- Copy all files from the original CD into it.
i: \ office-sp3-cd <--- The files of the administrative installation are then stored there.
i: \ office-sp3 <--- This is where service pack 3 comes in.

Download Office SP 3 as an admin pack version - 63 MB. Either same as direct download or from the Overview page, there is the download link at the bottom, as everyone likes it. (Download pages are no longer available)

Heads-up:
The links have already been placed on the German version, but check again. The file name must be OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-eng.exe.

A direct click does not allow you to choose the storage location - at least in Firefox - the desktop was selected without prompting. Therefore, right-clicking on the link ---> "Save target as ..." is the better choice. This means that it can be saved in the appropriate "office-sp3" folder right away. Shorten the long file name "OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-deu.exe" to "sp3.exe". That makes the entries easier afterwards.

Admin-Install the CD via Start ---> Run ---> Enter + OK:

i: \ office-org-cd \ setup.exe / a

If you want to do this directly from the CD, you have to enter the following instead, where? is to be replaced by your CD / DVD drive letter.

?: \ setup.exe / a

key

Set the storage location to the intended folder - if not already offered - "office-sp3-cd", enter the product key and click "Next".

When done, this message should appear.

done

Unzip SP3 and then integrate the files into the "office-sp3-cd" folder.

i: \ office-sp3 \ sp3.exe / t: i: \ office-sp3 / c

decomp-sp3-eula
decomp-sp3

The two installer patches MAINSP3ff.msp and OWC10SP3ff.msp, as well as three other files apart from sp3.exe are now in "office-sp3".

Update the folder i: \ office-sp3-cd with two commands:
Copying the command text instead of typing it in was successful despite a possible break on this page.
Update of the system files:

msiexec / p I: \ office-sp3 \ MAINSP3ff.msp / a I: \ office-sp3-cd \ ProPlus.msi shortfilenames = true / qb / L * I: \ office-sp3-cd \ office_sp3.txt

It takes a moment.

Update

This goes very quickly.
Update of the web components:

msiexec / p I: \ office-sp3 \ Owc10SP3ff.msp / a I: \ office-sp3-cd \ Owc10.msi shortfilenames = true / qb / L * I: \ office-sp3-cd \ owc_sp3.txt

Note:

As always, Windows doesn't care at all when specifying the path and file - but only there - whether upper or lower case is used;

msiexec /pi:\office-sp3\mainsp3ff.msp /ai:\office-sp3-cd\proplus.msi shortfilenames = true / qb / L * i: \ office-sp3-cd \ office_sp3.txt

- And

msiexec /pi:\office-sp3\owc10sp3ff.msp /ai:\office-sp3-cd\owc10.msi shortfilenames = true / qb / L * i: \ office-sp3-cd \ owc_sp3.txt

- works as well.

In the two log files that are created - have a look with Notepad - "office_sp3.txt" for the update and "owc_sp3.txt" for the web components should then be at the bottom that the Installations completed successfully were.
That's it. The contents of the folder "office-sp3-cd"is ready to be burned onto CD / DVD. From now on, an existing Office installation can either be updated to SP3 or freshly installed. The product key is no longer requested, as it is already integrated.

Broken links:
Should a link no longer work over time, please report it. A constant control of all links on this page, whether Microsoft as well as other pages sometimes changing something is too much time and effort. A short PN (private message) to one of the moderators who are online - note / enter your user name -, the admin Michael himself, or in the forum is sufficient. It will be adjusted as soon as possible.
Questions and suggestions about tips and workshops are of course also welcome in the forum.
