Part 1: Integrate SP2 in Windows XP

In order to simplify later installations of Windows XP, you will now create a bootable Windows XP installation CD, including integrated Service Pack 2, as well as all important drivers.

In the future you can then install Windows without having to sit permanently at the computer during this process. This type of installation is called unattended installation.

First, the new Service Pack 2 must be integrated into the files on the Windows XP CD.

Create a new folder on a sufficiently large partition (up to 1,5GB required) into which all files on the Windows XP CD will be copied.

To do this in Windows Explorer under Tools ---> Folder Options ---> View the hook at "Hide protected system files(recommended) "remove and quite far down the point at"Show all files and folders"activate.

In our case we use unattend as the folder name.

Then we create a folder SP2 (not unattend in the folder) and copy the SP2 in here (Using the same language version is important). It has to be the administrator version, not the small express version.

The German-language Windows Service Pack 2 can be downloaded from Microsoft.

Please check again on the page beforehand whether really "German"is set before downloading.

The long file name of the download version, which is used by Microsoft, is shortened to xpsp2.exe, but any other name can also be selected.

The CD version of the SP2, which can now be ordered from Microsoft - and is also included in some PC magazines - only has xpsp2.exe as the file name.

Start ---> Run ---> e: xpsp2.exe /?

This command extracts the contents of the file xpsp2.exe into a folder created by the SP itself, from which the files of the "Windows XP-CD"is updated with those of the SP2 and shows the parameter options after unpacking.

There under "Special options"a new parameter" /integrated: ", was inserted, this parameter is now also used for integration.

Start ---> Run ---> e: xpsp2.exe / integrate: e: unattend + OK
