drive does not start

    hi i need help my dvd drive doesn't start anymore after i tried to burn a cd i inserted an empty cd then i got a message burning cd with windows i clicked yes then i got a message data medium is being formatted. it could not be terminated

    thanks for your PM, but I mean we do this here. Then everyone can help, and I'm not here all day either.

    So rebooting actually only means "warming up" the computer, as under Start -> Restart

    or "cold start", shut down completely and start again.

    The CD / DVD all out of the drives.


    I assume you did that and it didn't help? Then it would be great to get some information about your computer. Type, operating system, age for now.

    Also important: Is it a burner at all, or is it just written on it, DVD / CD / BlueRay, IDE / SATA, needs a driver, or does the Win driver take it (a CD was included).
