    Hi
I would like to automatically shut down my EEE Pc 901, Win XP, after I disconnect it from the mains and switch it to battery.

Is that possible with a script? Because when I disconnect the laptop from the mains, it appears on the screen that it is now running on battery. You should be able to convert this message / event into a script in order to then be able to perform shutdown or something similar as an action?

The background is that I use the laptop as a CarPc, and as soon as I turn off the car, the laptop should no longer draw any more power and should immediately switch to standby.

I would be happy to receive helpful tips and suggestions.

    With kind regards,
    poorpeschino

I don't have Win XP available at the moment, but Win 7 Pro has the following possibility that you could try.

    My attitude: balanced active
    1.
Control Panel> Power Options> Advanced Settings> Scroll to Battery> critical battery capacity set to 90 or 80%

Comment at 100% BS could want to shut down permanently.

    2.
Control Panel> Power Options> Advanced Settings> Scroll to Battery> Action in case of critical battery capacity shut down

Might work. I look forward to your answer.

Thank you very much for the tips, but I've already tried everything.

It works that the laptop shuts down when it reaches the percentage, but since I install the laptop in the car and it then consumes the battery in standby / hibernation, the percentage of the battery fluctuates.
Even if I set the setting to 100%, nothing happens.

I have already tried some shutdown tools, but then I am missing a process that starts when the laptop switches to battery operation, i.e. it does not start a process when I pull the plug. But a message appears on the screen ...

And one should be able to "intercept" this message, shouldn't it?

    Hi,

After a short research, I came across the Windows 7 task planner.
Here you can set the trigger on a hardware event. The catch is you have to know the event ID which is sent to the processor. The OS (Windows) then knows that the power supply is no longer provided by the power pack.

Check out if you can find something on the net.
