Good day and hello,
I have a little "memory problem". As you can see in the title, I'm dealing with programs - in this case flight simulation - (FS 09, FSX, CFS3) - that can only be installed under Win XP and only run on it.
This applies in particular to the FS 09 and the CFS3. Both have been out of support for a long time.
I was a member of the Windows Tweaks (precursor) forum before, about 5 - 6 years ago. After my Win-XP computer had made the "straight leg" (overclocking problem) I was faced with the fact of screwing together a new "mill". So complete, mainboard, Prozi, graphics card, DDR-RAM - whatever goes with it.
I then installed Win 7 Pro. After there were problems installing the games, a nice user explained to me here how to activate the possibility of a "virtual" Win XP on Win 7 Pro. I expressed the posting history, but - unfortunately - as sometimes happens - "mixed it with the cellar potatoes"; want to say:
disposed of during a clean-up campaign.
Now I want to "reactivate" this because the GIGABYTE motherboard will need a new backup battery soon. The entire BIOS settings are lost - and I want to be on the safe side: If the worst case SHOULD occur, that I have to reinstall the whole thing (which has happened to me before due to a Win7 update - the update removed the possibility of virtual XP, so that I had to set up the OS again with all games including add-ons). That cost me a weekend of blasphemous cursing - but in the end it worked - also thanks to the support of the user here.
What I've tried so far (as a test): Install "Windows Virtual PC" first. This is called "Update for Windows (KB958559)" designated.
Article is from 2018. That's not it. Perhaps this mode is already "hidden" in Win 7 Pro.... .
As written above: unfortunately I no longer know the nickname of this user - and maybe he is no longer active here.
Kind regards and thanks for tips in advance.
