Good window film!

  • Dear Community,

I'm looking for a good window film and I hope you can help me. I live in a city that never sleeps and my bedroom window is right on a busy street. The constant noise and bright lights make it difficult to fall asleep at night. I've tried everything from thick curtains to ear plugs but nothing really seems to help.

Then a friend told me about window films that can filter the light and deaden the noise. I was skeptical but decided to give it a try. The only problem is that there are so many different types of window film and I don't know which is the best for me.

I'm also worried about how it will look like. I don't want it to change my windows too much or make it look cheap. I want a film that is durable and of high quality.

Another concern I have is the installation. I'm not a handyman and I'm afraid I'll get it wrong and ruined the film or even damaged my windows.

Maybe you can share your experience with window films and help me to make the right choice. Have you ever used a film that effectively reduced light and noise? What type of window film do you recommend and why? How was the installation? Was it a problem or was it easy?

I look forward to your replies and am grateful for your help.

    Thanks in advance!

  • When selecting our window film (from OBI), we based ourselves on the design. The characteristics didn't matter. Since you asked, I did a bit of digging out of interest. Maybe the links below will help you. Or other users have personal experiences.

Changed the topic title from Good Window Film! to Good Window Film!
  • Thank you, do you know if OBI still sells window film like this?

  • That was years ago. The design chosen at the time (city motif) should no longer be available. I would talk to a local salesman. If they give a competent impression, their advice, together with the information already provided, should make your decision easier. But maybe other users can contribute their experiences.

Otherwise, kudos to the moderator for spell checking. :)

  • I've already found a foil Mannitwo on the web, but I don't know if it's a good one. what do you say about it

  • Have you already seen that the film is only intended for outdoor installation? I can't rate the quality due to lack of experience. Otherwise, the manufacturer offers a free sample film. I would use that at the price quoted before ordering. However, since you are also looking for a sound-insulating film, the article linked below may be helpful. You can certainly find the appropriate foil via Google.
