Hello Manni,
Please excuse me, it took a little longer, but I've almost lost the desire to search through the settings. Exactly as you described it to me it was before and so I had it in my head. I just didn't find it and already began to doubt "about myself". After a long break, I have now tackled it again on the holidays and went through the settings in peace. I noticed that the option "Show icons for display in the taskbar" was grayed out (for whatever reason) and I therefore deliberately overlooked it. Yes, now ... What to do ... grayed out means not on selectable. Now I clicked it anyway and lo and behold ... It worked!
In addition to the system tasks, the running tasks were also swallowed up and that's what I was concerned with, I can hide the system tasks. The whole story is a bit dubious, but also Windows10.
In any case, thank you very much for your help, without which I would probably have given up again.
Greetings you kindly
the Martin

Hi Manni,
Yes you are correct with the symbols next to the clock. I looked again in detail, as you described it, but found nothing with which I can display all symbols. This is still in my mind from Windows 8, there was exactly this possibility, in my opinion, even with a right-click on the taskbar. But here at 10 (I have the Captain Kirk Edition) I can't find anything suitable. You know, I would like to see what is going on in the background and what is creeping in so secretly and since I actually never have 2-3 windows open, that doesn't bother me much.

Hi all,
I just checked it, exactly a year ago I had already written a post and I had no display in the task bar. Now that my computer was littered and the problem was still not resolved, I completely reinstalled Windows 10 last weekend.
Now I have my display in the task bar, but only five, I can see the rest by clicking on an arrow pointing up !?
And the whole thing I don't change anywhere. What's going on there, so far it has actually always worked. -
Hey Blue,
can I get the original back somehow?
Does the Deiwl know which tool has adjusted something for me.
If I download something from the Internet and don't pay attention, I still have an optimization tool with me that "cleans up" in the background ... -
So when I search for NTFS in Start or Explorer, it is found and I can also call it up, but only in the configuration menu each time. When you press the right mouse button, it does not appear. I have a link to mine here System there you can see what kind of Windows I have.

Hoi Blue, please excuse me at the moment I have completely different problems (hardware).
So now I have a screen copy of the start menu ... Um, I just see attaching doesn’t work at all ... Pasted. Maybe you can do something with it. So I can't find anything with which I can display all apps, but somehow that doesn't seem to be quite the menu that I had at the beginning ... hmmm

Hello Blue,
so now I'm back, thank you very much for your quick answer.
I can't find anything among all apps, but I can't see them all anywhere. -
Hi all,
I am in the process of optimizing my system and have installed the "NTFS Link" program, as I did in 7 & 8. This is even said to be an integral part of Windows lately. I just don't want to have to enter this via the command prompt, which is why I installed this little tool again.
A menu item should appear in the Explorer "NTFS Link" .... but doesn't do it. Does anyone know where it has got to or how I have to call it up now? -
Hello Blue,
Thank you very much for your detailed description!
The second variant worked - great - I'm thrilled.

Hi all,
Cortana has been bugging me lately and since I'm not using that anyway, I wanted to delete it but can't find it.
Can someone please tell me where they hid it? -
Hey Manny,
no, unfortunately not, but I'm glad that at least it's working again now.
If I had to reinstall, I would have come back to 8.1, not to mention all the work. At some point the tasks will appear again, which is honestly not that important to me after the procedure over the last few days.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their tips and suggestions!
Greetings to you in a friendly manner

You mania,
that's already clear. I also do an image with acronis once a month!
But that made me sweat now because it made a mistake shortly before the end and then nothing worked. So that from September 1.9st, luckily I was able to copy back that from October 1.10st, but maybe I got shaky now ... (that's why it took a while to answer)
Well, I think I don't want to display the tasks now before something like that happens to me again. I have already tried an image with Windows on-board tools a few times, but it shows me "faulty" every time. So somehow I don't seem to have any luck with Windows 10. -
Hello Blue, Hello Manni,
I have processed your suggestions, or the image has not yet been processed, as I see: the last backup was not carried out without errors ... Urg ...What I also noticed now, however, is that I have a gadget on the desktop from time to time, namely the "CPU usage" (two tachometers).
If I switch this on now, I only get the two% numbers on the desktop, the graphics (i.e. the two tachometers) are not displayed !? I have now installed others for testing purposes, and they are all displayed correctly. But now I have to get the image going again first.

Hello Blue,
Thank you very much for your effort, but that didn't work either.
I (and probably not only me) would be really interested to know what happened when the running tasks are no longer displayed. I mean, what can you accidentally (or deliberately) click to make them disappear? -
(Human error ...) of course it worked, but the result was the same.
-
Hello Manni,
So that with Windows.old worked perfectly - thank you very much for this tip!
But I haven't got a meter further with the other story.
With the best will in the world, I can't find anywhere to start in safe mode. But try again now, giving up is not ... -
Hello
Please delete Dropbox once and test it.
Hello Blue,
I don't have a Dropbox at all (at least not knowingly) -
Hello Manni,
Thank you very much for your fast reply.I have worked through your suggestions as far as possible, everything was ok or I could not find any errors (but does not have to mean anything)
I cannot start in safe mode, I am missing the function as before!?
During the system restore I am only offered 30.09/XNUMX, because a lot of drivers were exchanged (I haven't done that now)
I don't know why it is or was no longer saved, but I will investigate it later. On that occasion I noticed that there is a directory in root (approx. 20 GB) with the name windows.old. Of course, hidden otherwise I would have noticed it earlier. Since it cannot be deleted, I assume that parts of it are still used ... extremely dubious, the whole story is now slowly ...
he greets in a friendly manner

Hi all,
So, as already indicated, no buttons (of the programs running in the background) are displayed in the system tray. Probably the active ones on the left and, strangely, the date, time and notification window on the far right.
Now, of course, I didn't notice what I clicked on again ... because it was displayed normally all the time.Question: can I set this somewhere or activate it again?

Hi all,
does anyone happen to know how I can delete entries in the start menu on the right-hand side under games?
With the right mouse button definitely not, there is no deletion indicated.
