First of all, thanks for all the tips, I'll try them in the next few days. By the way, the problem only occurred to me after the update to Win11. Everything worked fine on Win10. Should I try pausing Bitlocker before scanning?

In addition to regular data backups with commercially available software, I carry out extensive virus scans with Windows Defender on a weekly basis. Since Win11, the computer regularly hangs halfway and that was it with the scan. Fast forwarding works, but it's only superficial. Does anyone have any advice for me (besides switching to merchandise)?

I used Win7 until recently and was happy with it. Since my old laptop was slowly saying goodbye, I now have a Win10 machine. The system runs smoothly. The occasional advertising of the manufacturers of purchased software that pops up and apparently cannot be turned off is annoying, as well as the hours that I have spent making the system data-secure. I don't dare to say whether that was really successful. But if you absolutely want to avoid that, you are not allowed to use microsoft products.

Hallo,
maybe someone has an idea: yesterday my Dell laptop updated the Dell Power Manager Service, which failed with error 1720. Now the program that is responsible for battery management no longer works. All the tips that I found on the Internet were not effective because the entry in the registry, the value of which was recommended to be changed, was not there and the latest drivers for BIOS and Wifi were also installed. Dell support recommended a BIOS update, which had long been done, and put me off for the near future, as they were working on the problem. However, this does not seem to have been very successful so far, as the problem exists with all Windows versions and the PMS 1.0. We now have version 3.9.
Anyone have a suggestion here?

T-COM SmartHome as a rental router from Telekom.
Runs well so far, I haven't had any problems with replacement devices in earlier models.

Under Win7 Trend Micro, with which I was very satisfied, under Win10 I use the in-house Defender.

I use different email accounts for different tasks. I like to use Web.de for online shopping, for example, because afterwards one can count on commercial e-mails. In my experience, Web.de has the sharpest spam filter, but the most limited storage space and the problem that emails sometimes take a long time to get through to me. For the current mail traffic I use Outlook 365 with an Exchange account so that mails are synchronized on all devices. I use a GMX account to dial into forums or for customer accounts.
