I use Sophos Anti-Virus (provided by the FH).
The program is sometimes a bit too precise and finds viruses in files that are not files. In this case, you can send the file to Sophos and after a few hours you will usually receive a response by email as to whether the file in question is actually infected.
But I prefer it more than having undetected viruses

OK, thank you coldplayer81!
I will take your tips to heart and implement them.

How can I change that?
With easyBCD I couldn't find any function that would allow me to do that. -
The partition on which XP was originally to be found was actually called C: \
How can I edit the boot.ini file? As far as I know, this belongs to the XP boot manager. So the Vista boot manager starts first and then transfers to the XP boot manager, i.e. NTLDR, when you select 'previous version of Windows'. This in turn is not able to start XP because C: \ F: \ became, or what?
Could I just run fixmbr with the repair option in XP, or wouldn't it work at all? Vista doesn't have to survive this action, but if XP could do it it would be great. As a last resort, I also have a backup of my documents.

I have now installed easyBCD. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to do now
Add a new entry for XP, reinstall or remove the Vista bootloader, or maybe try restoring !?
Here is the overview of the current entries:
Quote
There are a total of 2 entries listed in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader TimeOut: 30 seconds.
Default OS: Microsoft Windows Vista
Entry #1
Name: Microsoft Windows Vista
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C: \
Bootloader Path: \ Windows \ system32 \ winload.exe
Windows Directory: \ Windows
Entry #2
Name: Earlier Windows version
BCDID: {ntldr}
Drive: Active Boot Partition \
Bootloader Path: \ ntldr -
First of all, many thanks to you both!
I've already tried Paulemann's tip. Unfortunately with moderate success.
After entering all the instructions, the boot manager appeared when restarting, but when I selected 'Earlier Windows version' I got an error message:Windows startup failed. This may be due to a recent hardware or software change. How to fix the problem:
...
File: \ ntldr
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or damaged.

Good morning!
I received a Vista Business copy from the FH and installed it in parallel to XP.
I used Partition Magic to reduce the size of the two previously existing partitions and thus created a third one for Vista.
After installing Vista, the boot manager that should allow you to select the operating system did not appear. Vista starts fine. Under Disk Management, the original XP partition is listed as the primary partition, but no drive letter is assigned to it. The newly created Vista partition and the second one that existed before the installation are preserved.
The attempt to repair the boot manager with the Vista CD failed because only Vista was listed.
When starting with the XP CD, both operating systems could be displayed (Vista on C: \, XP on F: \).
Unfortunately, the attempt to add XP to the Vista boot manager also failed. After I had followed all the instructions in the tip, the boot manager appeared after a restart. But when choosing 'Previous Windows Installation', 'Error starting Windows' appeared.Who can help me to get the XP running again or at least to get access to the files?

So I suspect that the problem is with Vista and that it cannot control the CPU clock rate properly. Unfortunately, there were no tools from HP that control the CPU when you bought it.
The 'CPU C4 Function' function is already activated in the BIOS (Phoenix). This regulates the CPU frequency according to HP. I have already updated to the latest BIOS version.

Moin spark plugs!
The processor load is max. 10% when you are not working on the computer. Even after a quarter of an hour, the fan was still running and the clock frequency was specified as 1,66 GHz.
Strangely, the value does not change if I enter 10% under max

The fan on my HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook runs incessantly because the CPU's clock rate obviously cannot be reduced.
Under the energy options, I have already set the min. And max.performance status to values between 5% and 100% for the point processor energy management.
But under the system properties there is always T5500 @ 1,66GHz, even if the computer is not used. With my old XP notebook, the current clock rate of the CPU was always shown here.
How can I shut down the fan without having to reduce the maximum performance level of 100%?
The CPU is an Intel Core 2 (Centrino Duo)
Graphics card: GeForce Go 7400

Hi all!
I would like to partition the hard drive of an HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook with Vista Home Premium.
What tips can you give me so that the system stays fast and does not get littered?
I thought of three partitions:
1 .: Operating system and programs
2 .: User files
3rd: swap file, temp directories, possibly Hiberfil.sys
Do you think that makes sense, what suggestions do you have?
Which size would be recommended for the system partition and the temp partition, the disk is 160GB?
Can I put the user files in a partition that is included as a directory in C: \?
I have already moved the swap file and temp directories to another partition with your tips, how does it work with Hiberfil.sys?
I'm grateful for every tip!
Best regards,

First of all, I decided on Ulead VideoStudio 10. The program is very easy to use and imports and renders the movies very quickly.
Had previously tried a test version of GData DaVideo, which took the whole night to import the videos
First of all, thank you for your contributions and suggestions!

First of all, thank you for your tips and hints!
I will test the programs little by little and then report which one I liked best.
I have already tried Pinnacle Studio 10, but after the installation there were problems playing videos, for example in MediaPlayer or VLC. The system was also extremely slowed down when creating the preview images in video folders. Probably was a problem with the codecs, had a lot of video programs to try out at the time

Hi all!
I'm looking for an easy-to-use program that can edit .mpg video files.
First and foremost, I would like to trim the files (remove advertising), merge (combine several .mpg's into one), trim (remove black borders, change resolution) and then write them as a new .mpg on the hard drives.
Have already looked for existing articles (including from asgod and Schnibbel) and also tested a few programs (CyberLink PowerDirector, Ulead VideoStudio, VirtualDub, TMPGeng). Unfortunately, I wasn't really happy with anyone
Or am I too demandingWhat I have been missing in the first place are simple options for cropping and setting the resolution to freely selectable values, as well as writing the files to disk.
Does anyone know of a program that suits my needs?
Thank you for your answers in advance!

I own a Toshiba notebook that came with a great tool for managing different networks from the start. From IP addresses to the adapter to be activated (LAN / WLAN), the IE homepage and even the standard printer, everything can be saved there in profiles and changed at the push of a button. There is even an option that the settings change automatically when the program detects certain WLAN SSIDs.
The drivers for the Intel WLAN adapter include such a program.
Perhaps you will find such a tool regardless of the notebook manufacturer, or you can take a look at the homepage of your WLAN adapter manufacturer.Regards

It would even go under Paint:
Under Image -> Stretch / Zerren you can specify the horizontal and vertical size change in percent and the image is already smaller.
But in my opinion only to be used as a stopgap solution. But if you don't have anything else ...

Where did you open it?
This resistor is an SMD component and only a few millimeters in size!
So it almost falls under the components endangered by electrostatic charge ...
It is unsuitable for grounding, if only because of its extremely small dimensions.
The 'central grounding point' and the 'grounding plug' that I sent you in the links already contain a suitable 1MOhm resistor and only need to be connected to the PE contact.
As I said yesterday, I think that you can do without a resistor, it is more important that you are continuously grounded while you are handling the sensitive components in order to prevent static charges caused by friction. The order would then be:
Bracelet -> spiral cable -> crocodile clip -> then connect this to a (bare) pipe or PE contact ... -
One can be adjusted in size with a Velcro fastener, the other with a strap shorter.
That's all, especially in terms of function ... -
Yes, but if you are looking for 'central grounding connection' and 'European grounding plug', you should find it. I copied the names at Conrad and the links were just copied ...
