Good morning!
Yesterday the MS Software Distribution Service 3.0 was installed with a Microsoft update and after the necessary restart my drives - CD and DVD drives - were suddenly deactivated, no longer visible and no longer usable.
The damage was only repaired after a system restore. But my Nero took a bad hit, can no longer open it, and can no longer repair it. I have already uninstalled Nero, after which the drives were not visible again. Only after another system restore was I able to use the drives again. But Nero 7 is unusable on my hard drive, cannot be repaired and when I uninstall it, these two drives, i.e. CD and DVD, are deactivated again. I'm already desperate.
Any advice please? I can't find anything on Microsoft's side that I could use to repair the damage. Their side is difficult to understand for me anyway.
Greetings Renate

Hello!
Have played back a data backup and restored the old state. Now everything is fine again.
I will be very careful with MS updates in the future.Greetings Renate

Hi,
I probably also have a problem with MS Software Distribution 3.0.
I have 2 computers, but only one computer has certain probes. I only figured it out today when I wanted to create the * system restore at an earlier point in time * that this software is installed on my computer.
I have selected all the restore points that I have available, unfortunately the message * incomplete ... * keeps coming up, so I cannot restore the system at an earlier point in time.
I also checked whether System Restore is activated or deactivated, under Start-Control Panel-Services it says * automatic *. So that would be ok.
How can I remove the Software Distribution Service 3.0 from my computer because, as I said, a * system restore at an earlier point in time * is unfortunately not possible.
I discovered this Software Distribution Service 32 in * System3.0 *, but I don't dare to delete it in order not to get bigger probes and the whole system may collapse.
Can someone help me.

Hello and welcome to the Wtt forum
The following should help:
QuoteYou can do this great tool by starting the computer in safe mode and selecting the restore point BEFORE installing the MS Software Distribution Service 3.0. In addition, it is essential to deactivate the automatic update (preferably in the services) baw.
I keep my fingers crossed ..

Hi Blue,
thanks, will try it .;) -
Another tip:
Control Panel - Software. At the top, a checkmark next to "Show Windows Updates". Now 3.0 should also be free for deinstallation. (at least hope so) -
Thanks for the tip Helloween,
I'll go back to the whole thing on the weekend. :) -
Hello Irenelin,
I have a similar problem with the software distr. Service 3.0 - System restore points before it was installed are not displayed for me at all (the calendar does not scroll forward), and the system restore does not run either. Have you made any progress now? I only had to reload everything a few months ago and would now like to avoid that

Hello Helmut,
made short work of it, PC was launched at the end of December 2007
reformatted or restored the image.
I also had problems with IE7, and error messages occurred frequently.
Sry, that I couldn't help you.
