"Hm, but than your HDD isn`t very usefull if you can`t copy or paste files "

yes it isnt, its dieing, that is why i need a new one, the other hd i have is good, but its for Deskto PC and not notebook, so my question was about having this HD for pc desktop connected through a USB adpter, so if i could bootup through USB and install a windows xp there and use it while i cant buy a new notebook HD.

""SCREW IS REMOVED OR BROKEN " so maybe your/a "merchant" or someone else can repair it? "

nah, i asked around now, i know, it cant be repaired, i need to buy a new one.

i didnt backup anythng, i dont have much important stuffs and right now i cant access it, bios dont see HD, that is why im asking around if i would be able to bootup with a HD connected though USB port.

HI germandute, yes its too late, there is no master problem, it will simple work till it start to make the clicking noise, then if i let it sit for awhile i can bootup again, go on windows xp etc.. but if i attempt to do anymore heavy task(such as copying files or installing anything) it fails giving me the blue death screen or system just hang doing the clicking noise

ok im holding my hd right now, it says:

yes, i just read lots of post about the "equipment configuration error" that i forgot about the clickig noise.

i was hoping to be a battery problem and it may not getting info right from HDD, but its probably dead, i will try to test somewhere.

i cant buy a new one, the price u said sounds good, but i dont live in germany, im in brazil and theses stuffs are very expensive and i cant put money that.

    anyway thx.

no, the cd cant access the HD, its like there is none HD, just like i said on bios setup.

i tried to bootup through cd though, but dont work, the CD from windows XP says "there is no hard drive in your system, pleasy install one 1st blablabla" press F3 to quit.

its weird, cuz it was working good and now seems that there just aint a hard drive, i tried to remove hard drive and add again, still the same error:
IDE Primary Channel Master Driver Control
    Equipment Configuration Error

some how it not reading the HD anymore...

hey, there is just one HD.

1 HD and 1 CD ROM

there is no options on setup, the setup is very simple doesnt give me nothing special or advanced, i can only see system information, change data and hours and onboard ports stuffs.

i dont know the reason of the problem, i just know the error message:

    ============================
    BIOS V3.3
    _________________________________
    0130638 KB Memory Good

IDE Primary Channel Master Driver Control
    Equipment Configuration Error
Press <F2> to enter Setup, <F12> to enter Multi Boot Selection Menu
    etc...
    ============================

since there is no HARD DRIVE on setup i can guess that is part of the problem since the computer cant "see" the hard drive, like i said, it was working and when i reboot it wasnt anymore.

to bootup i have, HARD drive, flood disk, cdrom and lan options, but it akways have been set for Hard drive.

i can try to bootup through a disket, which i dont have one right now :( but i would be just stuck to disket, since computer cant "see" hard drive, so i wont be able to access "c:\"

    thx.

hey, thanks for the fast reply.

    ACER Travelmate 525TE
    PIII 700mhz,
    128mb,
    HD 10GB.

i have windows XP PRO installed with NTFS.

but i dont think its a OS problem, doesnt look like it, because the laptop would need to bootup 1st so the OS could access it, but dunno...

hen i go to bios setup and System information, i see:
    Hard Disk Drive ------------------- None.

but i didnt add or remove anything or bios update...

i tried to Load Default Settings, but didnt work.

    thx for the help.

hi all, im brazilian and i cant understand your guys lang, so pls try to help me, im replying to this post because i could only understand the problem of "Nyle" which is "IDE Primary Channel slave Drive Error"und "Equipment configuration Error".

i have the same problem but mine aint slave drive but master, the follow error:

    error:
IDE Primary Channel Master Driver Control
    Equipment Configuration Error

and puter wont boot up, its a laptop ACER 525 PIII 700mhz 128mb and 10gb, it was working today and then when i went to my room and reseted it, it gave me the error:

    error:
IDE Primary Channel Master Driver Control
    Equipment Configuration Error

and i get stuck there, i didnt change anything, the laptoper was working and just started to give me that error... what i can do about?
when i go SETUP the only thing i can notice is that there is no HARD DRIVE, like "HARDRIVE: NONE" but i didnt remove it.

    could be weak battery?

    thx.
