Hi,
I ordered a PC for work. It came pre-installed with Vista. So I asked the supplier beforehand whether the box was also available with XP. "No problem," I was told, "Vista Business can be downgraded to XP Pro - surely you have a disk with XP SP2?"
Sure I have it!
So XP installed, the serial number from the XP data carrier entered (although it is already running here, of course - but that's how it should be done), called the MS activation hotline. It was pointed out that I would like to downgrade Vista. Then an ordinary telephone activation carried out - without having to pass on the Vista key, which is stuck to the case.
Kind of bizarre. Now I have two XP computers with identical serial numbers. And that one of the two runs under a Vista license is nowhere noted.
Has anyone of you already downgraded Vista? Didn't you have to give a serial number of Vista? Finds kind of confusing ...
Hello
